So this morning I came across this beautiful bible verse:
I found this so beautiful and I was taken aback at how much it reminded me of a quranic verse that says:
This happens to me QUITE frequently, and so I decided to do a blog post comparing the similarities in the bible and qur’an. The consistency in the two messages is actually one of the main things that lead me to strengthen in my conversion to Islam. After converting, I went back and read parts of the bible (old testament and new), and was so struck by the consistency of the message that it reaffirmed the truth of the values and ideas transmitted in both texts.
This, of course, is not to suggest that the differences between the two faiths are not important or worth noting, but it is simply to show how similar the messages are and how easy it is to find common ground among those of other faiths. This applies to Judaism as well in my opinion, as the old testament was the main place where I found these similarities.
Forgive me I’m too ADD to go through and cite the ones without citations.
1. THE IMPORTANCE OF JUSTICE AND LOVE5:8 O ye who believe! stand out firmly for Allah, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to piety: and fear Allah. For Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.
2. USE PRAYER
Don’t worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything. Philippians 4:6
3. GOD DOES NOT ABANDON
4. THOSE WHO BELIEVE HAVE STRENGTH
5.GOD IS PATIENT AND ALWAYS WITH YOU. HE IS THERE.
“Be patient (in adversity); for, verily, God will not let the reward of the righteous be wasted.”
——— The Holy Quran, Chapter 11, Verse 115.
6. GOD WILL PROVIDE FOR YOU AS HE DOES THE BIRDS
Matthew 6:25-26 25″For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26″Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
‘Umar said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say,‘If you were to rely on Allah as He should be relied on, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds. They go out early in the morning hungry and return in the evening full.’” –Hadith Narrated by at-Tirmidhi and he said, “Hadith Hassan.”
7.AS FOR ME I BELIEVE IN ONE GOD
“Have you disbelieved in He who created you from dust and then from a sperm-drop and then proportioned you [as] a man? But as for me, He is Allah , my Lord, and I do not associate with my Lord anyone. 18:37-38
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, chooseyou this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
16 And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the Lord, to serve other gods;
8.IN TIMES OF TROUBLE REMEMBER YOU BELONG TO GOD
9. NO FEAR OF BAD NEWS NO FEAR FOR THE RIGHTEOUS
“Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered for ever. They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord. Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.” Psalm 112:6-8
6: 48 We send the messengers only to give good news and to warn: so those who believe and mend (their lives),- upon them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
27:79 So put thy trust in Allah: for thou art on (the path of) manifest Truth.
10. THE WEAK WILL INHERIT
And We made a people, considered weak (and of no account), inheritors of lands in both east and west, – lands whereon We sent down Our blessings.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
11. TRUST THE LORD AND SUBMIT AND HE WILL GUIDE YOU TO STRAIGHT PATH
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
6: Say: “Verily, my Lord hath guided me to a way that is straight,- a religion of right,- the path (trod) by Abraham the true in Faith, and he (certainly) joined not gods with Allah.”
Who can be better in religion than one who submits his whole self to Allah, does good, and follows the way of Abraham the true in Faith? For Allah did take Abraham for a friend.
12. GODS TREATMENT OF YOU REFLECTS YOUR TREATMENT OF OTHERS
Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Those who are merciful will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth and the One above the heavens will have mercy upon you. The womb is derived from the Most Merciful, thus whoever keeps relations with his family then Allah will keep relations with him, and whoever abandons his family then Allah will abandon him.”
13. GOD TREATS YOU HOW YOU TREAT HIM. HE WILL LET YOU FIND HIM.
“I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me.
15. HE KNOWS WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART
“…for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.
64:4 He knows what is in the heavens and on earth; and He knows what ye conceal and what ye reveal: yea, Allah knows well the (secrets) of (all) hearts.
